Next month will see the return of the International Cake Show Australia in Brisbane from 14–16 April at the RNA Royal International Convention Centre in Bowen Hills. Tickets are still available on the ACADA website for this event.

This year’s show is set to be double the size of previous shows, with several cake-world celebrities flying in from the US and the UK including Karen Portaleo, celebrity cake sculptor, and Rosie Dummer, who is known for creating extreme life-size cakes.

International Cake Show Australia CEO, Joan McDermott said the event is a brilliant cross between food, design, colour, and competition.

“The International Cake Show Australia is open to the public and is all about creating magic, defying possibilities and breaking boundaries. For the millions who watch Cake Boss and follow the hundreds of thousands of edible artists on social media, this event is the penultimate experience, and to have it staged here in Brisbane as the national showpiece is certainly a coup for the city,” she said.

The event will consist of various cake and chocolate displays, a wide variety of workshops, and many different competitions. Some of the highlights include the Ultimate Australian Cake and Cookie Decorating Competition and Display, which is open to competitors from 27 different countries and is still accepting entrants; the Battle of the Sugar Giants, which will feature a giant edible sugar cake installation; the International 2-Day Cake-Off Challenge, which will involve Team Australia competing against Team International across the Friday and Saturday for the world title; and the Miss Biscuit Cookie Stage, hosted by Julia Day, where Australia’s most awarded cookie artists and celebrity bakers will share their tips and tricks.
