“It felt amazing, it was a surreal moment when they called my name,” he told The Advertiser.

“We’re starting to be recognised for what we do.

Mr Allan, who first gained national recognition in 2016 after he competed on The Great Australian Bake Off, told the publication his love for baking began we he started making cakes for his own children’s birthday parties, and he discovered the world of patisserie. Previously Mr Allan had worked in the steel industry.

He started out by making cakes from his home in 2018 before opening his first store at Morphett Vale,  south of Adelaide.

“I let my creativity fly when I’m making my cakes,” he said.
