People gathered to participate in the Baking Industry Trade Show

The Baking Industry Trade Show is nearly here. Taking place later this month (May 30–June 1), the Show is set to be jam-packed with interesting events, workshops, demonstrations, and much more. Hosted every year by the Baking Association of Australia (BAA), the event is a highlight of the baking industry’s calendar.

This year’s event is taking place at Wentworth Park in Sydney and will be attended by a variety of experts from all facets of the industry. Each year, the attendees, exhibitors, and events held at the Show change, with the BAA constantly growing the event year to year.

Of course, this year’s Show brings with it the annual Excellence in Baking competition, which pits apprentice against apprentice to determine who is the industry’s brightest rising stars.

“The Excellence in Baking brings the youth of our industry together every year. As apprentice bakers and pastry cooks compete for the National Title of Apprentice Baker and Apprentice Pastry Cook of the Year,” the BAA wrote in a social media post.

It continued, “The state finalists will do battle over two days at this year’s Baking Industry Trade Show in Sydney.”

This competition culminates in the Awards Night that will take place on the second night of the Show, where the winners in both pastry and bread will be announced.

The Show will also be the home of Australia’s Best Pie and Pastie Competition, which will be hosted once again by Shaun Pyne, better known as Pyney (of Pyney’s Pie Reviews).

Tickets to the event are totally free, and there is still time left to register to attend the Show, with more details on the BAA’s website.
