Entries open for the 2024 Excellence in Baking competition

Calling all pastry chefs and bakers, the Baking Association of Australia (BAA) is calling for nominations in the Excellence in Baking state rounds, with Queensland and NSW entries closing soon.

The 2024 Excellence in Baking National Bread and Pastry national winners will receive a scholarship from Rosewood Research that will allow the winners to visit an artisan bakery and farm to expand their studies on both bread and pastry.

BAA executive officer Tony Smith said the Excellence in Baking competition was one the most prestigious events for the baking industry.

“…it promotes some the best apprentices we have across Australia,” he said.

The state competition dates are:

Queensland: January 16, 2024
NSW: January 30, 2024
South Australia: February 16, 2024 (bread)
February 23, 2024 (pastry)
Victoria: February 20, 2024
