Popular Queensland-based establishment Uncle Bob’s Bakery, which currently has locations in Belmont, Redland Bay, and Crystal Waters, announced over the weekend that it will be closing down its Redland Bay location due to an inability to reach an agreement with the centre management of Redland Bay Shopping Centre, where it is based.
“After 22 years at our Redland Bay store, our time has come to an end – we have ceased trading and our store will be permanently closed as of Monday the 17th of April,” Uncle Bob’s said in its announcement on social media.
The brand continued, “Our amazing team and ourselves are of course devastated to have to make this decision.”
“It would certainly have been our preference to stay, but after 18 months of negotiation with Centre Management, we have been unable to reach an agreement that enabled us to create a sustainable business model for the future.”
The news came as a shock and a disappointment to many of the brand’s Redland Bay customers, who were devastated to hear of the closure. But this does not mean the end of Uncle Bob’s in the area.
“We are presently identifying and talking to some other local retailers who are interested in stocking our products and will advise as soon as we have firm arrangements in place,” Uncle Bob’s said.
The brand’s other stores will also remain open for business, and Uncle Bob’s encourages its customers to head there for their fix in the meantime.
