Vegas & Rose in Ballarat has made a name for itself over the last 12 years as a place to get incredible brownies. Penthea Marshall-Radcliffe started the business in 2011 after moving to Ballarat from Melbourne with her partner and children.

After five years working a bricks-and-mortar store, Penthea decided to close it down, re-opening the online side of the business again in 2018.

Now, Penthea has announced that Vegas & Rose will be shutting down completely.

“This was not an easy decision to make but here I go,” Penthea wrote in a social media post.

“I’ve decided to say farewell to my beloved Vegas & Rose. Hanging up my apron, putting away all the baking tins, and closing our online store.

“It’s been an incredible 12 years of baking and creating in beautiful Ballarat. I’m so lucky to have met so many gorgeous people and had your ongoing support for so many years. Who knew our brownies would be so loved!”

The news was met with disappointment from Vegas & Rose’s loyal customer base, who expressed many well wishes in amongst their sadness that the business was closing.

“Less time in the kitchen will now allow for more family time,” Penthea wrote.

She added that closing down the bakery would allow her more time to focus on her photography business, Vegas & Rose Photography.

The business will chose down completely on this coming Friday, 21 July.
