The Baking Association of Australia (BAA) hosted the Tasmania Baking Show 2023 at the Boat House Function Centre in Tasmania last week. The competition was well attended, with a high number of entries into the range of competitions that were held there.
Executive officer of the BAA, Tony Smith, said, “The Tasmania Baking Show has seen another successful year with an increase in exhibitors and entries.”
The judges worked non-stop to test out all of the products and come to decisions on winners at this show.
“52 bakeries entered with just over 300 pieces of product, which kept the judges very busy,” said Tony.
The Champion Loaf of the Show (and therefore the David Cripps Trophy) was won by Alice Loone from Coles, Meadow Mews. McCarthy’s Bread Lounge took out Champion Pie of the Show, and Ryan Cartlege from Brighton’s Best Bakehouse went home with the award for Champion Cake/Pastry of the Show.
