Melbourne favourite croissant dealer Penny for Pound has unveiled a huge new bakery at Moorabbin.
From humble beginnings as a wholesaler in the back kitchen of a mate’s cafe to its Richmond pastry shop, Ben Wilson and pastry chef Matilda Smith have upped the ante with their new 550 square metre facility in the Morris Moor precinct, which houses two production kitchens and a cafe.
The new store carries the transparency of the original, with plenty of glass ensuring customers can watch the magic happen in the kitchens and see their fresh pastries produced in real time.
Coffee is made with beans from Axil Coffee Roasters, and plenty of seating—including booths—create a warm welcome for visitors.
For Ben and Matilda, life is only set to get busier, with their third location at Camberwell scheduled to open this June.
