Melbourne-based Chocolatier Australia and its production facility have been acquired by Koko Black. The move has been touted to be part of Koko Black’s expansion.

The move was confirmed in early April.

According to Food and Drink Business the Chocolatier Australia facility, located in Heidelberg West, is the only one of its kind in the Asia Pacific, and includes a 4000sq m climate controlled warehouse. The current Chocolatier Australia workforce will join Koko Black’s team in the coming months, however Koko Black will continue production at its Coburg North facility for the immediate future.

Koko Black owner Simon Crowe said the business’s current success and predicted growth was driven by future-focused solutions.

“Koko Black has always been dedicated to creating exceptional chocolate experiences, and this investment allows us to grow while maintaining the artistry and quality our customers love,” he said.

“The acquisition is a testament to our confidence in the brand’s strength and the exciting opportunities ahead.”

Koko Black has also unveiled plans to open between seven and 10 new stores in FY26, including the 132sq m flagship store that opened at The Market Pavilion in late March. This expanded retail footprint and production facility will see accelerated revenue for Koko Black, which is predicted to triple its revenue by 2029.
