The countdown is on until Valentineβs Day, February 14. This year, the day will have an extra special meaning for three Australian couples, thanks to international fan-favourite doughnut shop Krispy Kreme.
In late November last year, the company put out a call on its social media for Aussie fans for whom Krispy Kreme held a particular meaning to enter a competition with a special doughnut-y prize.
βDoes Krispy Kreme have a special place in your love story?β the social media post began.
βMaybe youβve shared an Original Glazed on your first date? Whether youβre recently engaged, been for a while, or even want to renew those exceptional vows, we want to hear from you.β
Couples were invited to tell their love stories on the doughnut store’s website for a chance to win a paid-for Valentineβs Day wedding (or vow renewal) held Krispy Kreme Mascot in New South Wales. Three couples were (secretly) selected on 12 December and will be eagerly awaiting their special day next month.
The overwhelming response to the competition only serves to show how beloved the doughnut chain is Australia-wide.
βHonestly, we thought weβd get a few people. Itβs got to be a few, right?β chief brand officer at Krispy Kreme David W. Skena told bakingbusiness.com.
βOver 340 couples have asked, please, yes, I would like to be married at Krispy Kreme on Valentineβs Day, which is really cool. It just shows you how special this brand is and how deeply people feel their association with this brand.β
