Sargents Pies has donated $330,000 to leading food rescue organisation OzHarvest.

The generosity will allow OzHarvest to deliver quality surplus food to thousands of vulnerable Australians, as well as develop and expand its Cooking for a Cause program to Gold Coast and Brisbane areas.

As an Australian-owned company, Sargents is not only known for supporting the local meat industry, but also for its charity arm – Sargents Pies Charitable Foundation – established in 1997 to relieve poverty and to assist people with disabilities.

OzHarvest founder and chief executive officer Ronni Kahn said the donation will enable the organisation to nourish thousands of Australians who don’t have access to nutritious food.

Sargents Pies’ spokesperson Karl Fretwell said all companies have a responsibility to support and give back to the local community.

“We are proud to support an organisation that has to date delivered more than 17 million meals to help Australians in most need. Our commitment is to help OzHarvest continue the wonderful work that they do and this is a small way in which we can contribute,” Karl said.
