Wonder Bread joined forces with Eat Up, a leading charity providing free school lunches to children in need, on May 14 to break the Guinness World Record for the longest line of sandwiches.
For the attempt, 350 school children from six schools rolled up their sleeves to make 14,520 sandwiches, gathering at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney.
Goodman Fielder CMO Christine Fung said, “At Wonder, we believe in creating moments that not only feed the body but also the community, especially kids, so we can fuel their play and learning.”
“This record-breaking event with Eat Up was more than just a Guinness World record attempt – it was a celebration of community, purpose and brand values coming to life in a big, bold way.
“On the day, all of the students used our Wonder 5 Star Soft White bread to create the sandwiches and brought the event to life. This activation is the culmination of an eight-year partnership with Eat Up to feed Aussies in need. It shows what’s possible when a brand leads with heart, purpose and a whole lot of Wonder.”
Eat Up founder Lyndon Galea said, “The reality is that one in four children across Australia are going to school without lunch – and the need for our services continues to grow. As more families face tough times, our work at Eat Up has never been more urgent.”
“This incredible moment – breaking a Guinness World Record with Wonder alongside 350 inspiring young Aussies – is more than just a milestone. It’s a powerful testament to what’s possible when our communities come together to tackle a serious issue.”
During the event the public were invited to come down and enjoy a Wonder 5 Star toastie from a dedicated activation space at the venue which also included a photo booth, DJ and large screen to watch all the record-breaking action.
