The world record for the longest tiramisu was broken by a group of Italian chefs

The record for the world’s longest tiramisu has been broken.

On April 25 and 26, 100 Italian chefs gathered at the Chelsea Town Hall to create the tiramisu live on site as per the Guinness World Record rules.

The resultant dessert measured 440.6m (1445ft) – topping the former record holder set by Milanese Galbani in Milan, which came in at 273.5m (897ft).

The new record holder used more than 3000 eggs and 50,000 ladyfinger biscuits.

According to the BBC, the man behind this London attempt, Mirko Ricci, first held the record back 2017 before another Italian team broke the record in 2019.

Mr Ricci said tiramisu was, “the most incredible dessert that Italy has exported”, and added the chefs had decided to hold the world record attempt in the UK rather than in Italy as a way to say thank you to the United Kingdom.

“This is a record for us,” he said.

Chef Carmelo Carnevale said the tiramisu had to be at least 8cm high and 15cm wide in order to bread the world record. He added that very good coffee, nice and firm cream, and a lot of passion were required to make a good tiramisu.
