The trending bakery items for Christmas 2021

From the tried-and-tested classics like pavlova and fruit mince pies, to some more creative and modern sweets—think Christmas-themed lamingtons and brownies—and some extravagant show stealers like croquembouche, Yule logs and indulgent black forest cake, these are the trending bakery items for Christmas 2021.

Baubles and boozy bites

If you grew up eating nan’s boozy trifle, you’ll love some of the desserts we’re seeing on offer this festive season.

Try Baked By Keiran’s signature Drunken Pud—best enjoyed warm (perhaps with a good glug of brandy custard?):

“We know 2021 has been tough on many of us so we’ve made sure our Christmas range includes a bunch of new and returning treats so there’s something to bring classic ‘Christmas Cheer’ to everyone in the family,” said Keiran.

Or, if fruit mince pies are more your thing, Penny for Pound generously soak their fruit in brandy, and rest assured they’re not contaminated with any chunks of peel!

For the bauble, dessert-master(chef) Reynold Poernomo has created these Ferrero Rocher choux baubles, available at KOI, or you can make them yourself with the recipe here.

Christmas Classics

Sometimes tradition just has to win out with those classic tastes we grew up with.

Try gingerbread men like these from Tokyo Lamington:

Or a classic trifle, like this beauty from Mascavado:

A modern twist

Classics are great, but traditional flavours can be spiced up with a little creativity to create something a bit same-but-different.

Try Tokyo Lamington’s range of festive lammies, in flavours like black forest, gingerbread, fruit salad, Christmas pudding, peach trifle and pavlova—amazing!

Or, if you like a pavlova, Baked By Keiran has a pavlova cheesecake:

Brownie specialists Ox Rabbit also have a festive range:

A little bit fancy

If you want a real showstopper, a Christmas croquembouche, Yule log or black forest cake is sure to make your in-laws’ jaws drop (via Baked By Keiran):
