Small School Wins National Fundraising Bake Sale

A school of 28 students was named national winner of a Muffin Break Facebook fundraising competition.

From more than 2735 registered schools, Lyndhurst Public School of the Blayney Shire in NSW won the Muffin Break Great Bake Sale Facebook fundraising competition.

The school topped the five-week digital campaign by Muffin Break with 581 of a total 17,468 competition votes.

Open all to pre-schools, primary schools and high schools across Australia and New Zealand, the competition called for schools to register on the Muffin Break page on Facebook, before rallying ‘Likes’ for their school during the voting period.

As the national winner, Lyndhurst Public School earned a state-of-the-art You-Touch Interactive LCD Panel valued at more than $8700, as well as the NSW state prize of 1000 freshly-baked, low-fat, healthy-option muffins valued at almost $4000.

Lyndhurst Public School principal Sally Beer said the win has sparked unprecedented excitement among the school’s 28 students, who will enjoy a three-day excursion to Sydney using the funds to be raised at its forthcoming school bake sale event.

“I am so proud of all members of our school community who came together with such incredible enthusiasm and a collective determination to win from the very outset of the competition,” Ms Beer said.
