Melbourne’s Madeleine de Proust founder claims 2026 La Liste Award

The winners of the prestigious La Liste Awards for 2026 have been announced, with a notable Melbourne name on the list.

This year’s event marked a significant evolution for the La Liste Awards, which for the first time saw artisan bakeries integrated into its international pastry selection and be presented under the new title of “The World’s Best Pastry and Bakery Shops”.

Hyoju Park from Melbourne’s Madeleine de Proust was named among the Pastry Talent of the Year Award winners, sitting alongside Juliana Penteado at Juliana Penteado Pastry (Lisbon), Jeffrey Tan at JT Patisserie (Penang), Miguel Yeste at Obrar Madrid, and Marcelo Mabilia at Les Manufactures Alain Ducasse (Paris).

The World’s Most Creative Chef Award went to Korean pastry chef Eunyoung Yun. Based in Seoul, Eunyoung is teh CEO of Garuharu, a boutique that is known for inventive Korean-inspired eclairs and modern desserts.

Pierre Herme Paris in Sentosa, Singapore was awarded the World’s Best Pastry Shop Award. The award acknowledged a breakthrough concept from a pastry shop or group in terms of products, design and customer experience. It’s the brand’s first flagship store in Southeast Asia, with signature macarons, chocolates and pastries all on offer alongside Singapore-exclusive creations inspired by local flavours like pandan, coconut and kaya.

Room 4 Dessert chef Will Goldfarb was recognised with the Pastry Game Changer Award. Based in Bali, Indonesia, Will is known for his experimental approach to desserts. The Bakery Innovation Award was presented to two bakers: Richard Hart of Hart Bageri Copenhagen, and Claridge’s Bakery, London, and Thomas Teffri Chambellannd of Ecole International de Boulangerie in Paris.

Eight newcomers to the pastry and bakery scene were recognised with the Pastry and Bakery Opening of the Year Award:

  • Le Cafe by Nicolas Rouzard, London
  • Maison Devoille, Christophe Devoille, Dubai
  • Blue Box Cafe, Natsuko Shoji, Tokyo
  • L’Okara, Linda Vongdara, Brunoy France
  • Patisserie Toshiya Takatsuka, Paris, Le Salon de The, Le Chambard, Olivier Nasti and Jordan Gasco, France
  • Du Pain et des Miettes, Julien Allano and David Andria, Bonnieux, France
  • Thomas Dura Patisserie, Ecully, France

Rounding out the awards was the Pastry Discovery Gem Award, which acknowledges the best under-the-radar patissiere, bakery, afternoon tea destination or dessert restaurant. Ten winners were chosen, including:

  • From Lucie by Lucie Franc de Ferriere, New York City
  • Panaderia Rosetta be Elena Reygadas, Mexico City
  • Burnt Ends Bakery by Dave Pynt, Singapore
  • Eigenbrotler Backwerke by Daniel Amrein, Switzerland
  • Mills Bakery & Bistro by Xiao Xiao, Shanghai, China
  • Loiseau la Patisserie by Lucile Vigilant, France
  • Lea Chiari Patissiere be Lea Chiari, France
  • Gonfle Boulangerie by Timothy BReton, Paris
  • House of Pain by Pierre Houles and Jerome Flayac, France
  • Mandipili by Anne-Sophie Mendy, Paris, France
