Baker Bleu is well-known for crafting the perfect loaf. Now the bakery’s Cremorne location has been shortlisted for the 2026 Australian Interior Design Awards.

Baker Bleu Cremorne, designed by IF Architecture, has been shortlisted in the Retail Design and Hospitality Design categories.

IF Architecture director Iva Foschia said Baker Bleu Cremorne built on our long-standing collaboration, with each project evolving shred ideas.

“…and deepening the brand’s expression. Material, spatial planning, and storytelling come together to create a cafe that is both efficient and inviting, where every detail reflects the craft of the bread and sustainability is embedded through considered material choices,” she said.

“This project shows how thoughtful design can strengthen brand identity, enrich daily experiences, and transform operational spaces into memorable, engaging places.”

Baker Bleu Cremorne’s interior was designed to put product and people at the centre. This includes displaying bread, bagels and pastries with a material palette contrasting dark crust sourdough with steel and warm timber against cool terrazzzo. Consumer sightlines and circulation are directed by the geometry of the plan, and helps to bring attention to product displays and digital menus. Ultimately, the design aims to balance the efficiency, atmosphere and storytelling through layered materiality and spatial planning.

The 2026 Australian Interior Design Awards recognise outstanding work across residential, commercial, and public sectors, and are presented by the Design Institute of Australia and Architecture Media’s InteriorsAu.

The full list of awarded and commended projects will be presented at the Gala Dinner in Sydney,  on June 12.
