Love of the monarch reached new heights in early November, with residents of Longreach, Queensland, celebrating the royal visit in true Aussie style – with a meat pie.
Merino Bakery, which has pride of place in the centre of the outback town, created its own Prince Charles Royal Lamb Pie – dedicated to the guest of honour and his wife Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall.
While the royal pie had no other purpose than to provide a bit of fun on the day, Merino Bakery owner Ben Roughan said it was a hit with locals and sold out quickly.
Unfortunately, the royal couple didn’t manage to get their hands on their namesake pie. Nonetheless, they did enjoy a community barbecue and a cold beer with Premier Campbell Newman and 300 guests.
