Darrell Lea unites with brewery to create chocolate stout

Confectionery and chocolate giant Darrell Lea is shaking up the craft beer industry once again, uniting with Nomad Brewing Co. to re-release their sell-out Chocolate Liquorice Stout, along with a new brew.

Lining up nicely with Father’s Day, the collaboration this year features a new beer inspired by one of Darrell Lea’s most popular blocks—the Darrell Lea Rocklea Road Chocolate Stout.

The new brew, according to published tasting notes, is a thick, marshmallow-centred stout with a hint of nuttiness on the finish.

When the Darrell Lea Batch 37 Chocolate Liquorice Stout was released last year, it was a testament to how many Aussies like liquorice, selling out in less than 24 hours.

Nomad brewed the two chocolate stouts in Brookvale and has now released them to major retailers across Australia. You can also hop on Nomad’s website to grab the beers, which are available in mixed 8-packs of 440 ml cans for $75. Mixed and single-flavour 4-packs are also available at $45. Or you can just head along to the brewery in Brookvale, NSW.

“We sold out of our Darrell Lea Liquorice beer in just under 24 hours last year, so this year we’ve made sure to have double our production and introduce a brand-new flavour to everyone can enjoy their beer,” said Nomad owner Kerrie Abba.

“We’re passionate about discovering new flavours and we’re stoked to work alongside an iconic Aussie brand for a second year to bring to life craft beers that will excite many liquorice and chocolate fans.”
