Specific batches of Tony’s Chocolonely products have been recalled over the potential presence of small stones.
The recall affects three specific batches: the 180g and 90g Pure Almond Sea Salt, and the 180g Everything Bar.
The recall was first issued on April 1, with a warning that it wasn’t an Aprils Fools joke.
Although it was stated the likelihood of contamination was low, the decision was made by the company to remove the affected batches of the 180g bars from sale in Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands, the UK, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Israel.
No other Tony’s Chocolonely products have been affected.
In a statement a spokesperson for the company said, “We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this recall may cause. While the probability of a product being affected is low, we prioritise consumer safety above all else. We sincerely apologise to our customers and retail partners.”
Tony’s Chocolonely is working with retailers and food safety authorities to remove the impacted bars from shelves. Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled bars have been advised not to consumer them, and to instead return them to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.
The products affected are the the Dark Almond Sea Salt 180g and Everything Bar 180g with specific lot codes: 162633, 162614, 163061, 4331, 4332, 4333. The Darks Almond Sea Salt bars with the best before date February 28, 2026 and April 2, 2026 should be avoided. For the Everything Bar, the products should be returned if they have best before dates between November 26 and 28, 2025.
The recall was initiated following 12 reports of consumers finding small stones in the product that hadn’t been filtered during third-party almond harvesting and the almond processing processing.
Tony’s Chocolonely has included a recall page on their website where consumers can check the LOT of their product to determine if it has been affected.
