Patties Food Group has completed its acquisition of National Pies.
National Pies, also known as Tasmanian Bakeries, was launched in 1942 by Alfred Gough and since then has has become a meat pie and sausage roll institution in the state.
Despite the acquisition, it has been confirmed the third generation Tasmanian Bakeries will remain a standalone business within Patties Food Group.
It has also been confirmed the Tasmanian Bakeries management team and existing staff members will all remain their roles and all operations will stay in Tasmania, with Patties Food Group also signing a long-term lease agreement for the Hobart site.
National Pies chief executive officer Geraldine Tebbutt confirmed the sale back in August 2024, pending approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
“After 85 years of production across three generations, National Pies’ owner Rob Gough has entered into a conditional agreement to sell the business to Patties Food Group,” she told Pulse Tasmania at the time.
“This is subject to ACCC approval and provisions have been made for long-term production and employment in Tasmania should the sale go through.”
Patties Food Group is the company behind pie brands such as Four’N’Twenty and Herbert Adams Pies.
