Loving Earth crowdfunds large-scale expansion

Melbourne-based chocolate maker Loving Earth was first established in 2007 and has seen some ups and downs since then. Now, however, after emerging from the fresh onslaught of challenges caused by the pandemic, the company is ready to conquer the world.

Scott Fry and Martha Butler started Loving Earth in 2007 shortly after returning to Melbourne from a trip to Mexico. They were committed to creating sustainable, earth-friendly, cruelty-free, organic, vegan products and have done this ever since then.

The brand has grown since it first started out with products being made in Scott and Martha’s kitchen. Loving Earth now employs 30 people, who work out of its manufacturing facility.

And now, the company plans to take its products worldwide. Recently, Loving Earth raised just over $485,000 on the equity crowdfunding platform Birchal; the investment offer closed on 1 December 2022.

The company plans on using the money to develop and grow new distribution channels. It also wants to increase its social and environmental impact.

“It’s something we have been considering for a while,” Scott told SmartCompany.

“Instead of having one major investor, we have 307 investors. If feels good to have these people on board, and we look forward to working with them moving forwards.

“Loving Earth is a maker to its core, and we are passionate about chocolate,” he continued.

The brand recently released a range of ‘superfood’ products, including chocolates with superfoods like mint, orange, macadamia, ginger, and others.

It hopes to continue to increase its share of the vegan chocolate market, which has been growing steadily in recent years, and continue to produce ethically and sustainably made chocolate.
