The Excellence in Baking Gala Dinner took place last night, and the nation’s best apprentice baker and apprentice pastry chef were recognised at the event, which was attended by greats of the industry as well as special guest Her Excellency, The Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of NSW.
The winners for both Best Apprentice Baker and Best Apprentice Pastry Chef came from Victoria, with Maylee Howard for Porter Ave Pies and Cakes taking out Apprentice Pastry Chef of the Year, and Caleb Braszell of Baker Bleu taking out Apprentice Baker of the Year.
After a long year of state competitions and the grand final bake off that took place at the Baking Industry Trade Show in New South Wales across May 30–31, Maylee and Caleb took out the titles as this year’s top apprentices.
