English baker amazes with cake flower bouquets

An English home baker has hit local headlines in her hometown of Manchester with her amazing cake flower bouquets.

Jo Goodwin started making cakes as a hobby after deciding to make her own wedding cake nine years ago, and now has such demand for her stunningly realistic floral cupcakes that she’s given up her day job to go full-time, The Manchester Evening News reported.

Following her foray into making her wedding cake, Jo made occasion cakes for friends and family, but didn’t particularly enjoy making big cakes.

“I find large cakes to be stressful and don’t really enjoy making them,” she told the publication.

After coming across cupcake bouquets in 2020, Jo did some online tutorials and practiced the art before launching her business—Jo Goodwin Cupcakes—in November 2020. In April 2021, she was able to leave her work in finance to take it full-time.

Each order can take five hours to pipe as Jo tries to make them look as real as possible, spending hours researching and practising new flowers.

“Seeing my customers happy faces really does make the hard work and long hours’ worth it,” she said.

“I absolutely love it when I get sent pictures of the recipient of the bouquet when given to them as a gift.”
