Don’t miss the Baking Industry Trade Show!

The baking industry will come together as one for the BAA’s inaugural Baking Industry Trade Show, held on June 20-22 at the Moonee Valley Racecourse Events Centre in Melbourne.

Around 30 exhibitors will be at the show from a variety of bakery sectors including equipment suppliers, ingredients, uniforms, signage and point of sale.

There will also be stellar attractions where visitors can learn and get their hands dirty, such as The Vanrooy Bakery Theatre, Bulla stage and UNOX area.

The Vanrooy Theatre will offer something for everyone in the baking, pastry and cake industry with a star-studded lineup of demonstrations. Shayne Greenman, an award-winning artisan baker, sugar craftsman and culinary artist, is among the guests showing not only how to use the equipment, but how to produce quality products simply and effectively. Visitors will also have the chance to participate, get their hands dirty and get a real feel for the products being made.

Bulla will have their ambassador Kirsten Tibballs demonstrating many of the Bulla products for baking, which will be a great opportunity to see an esteemed pastry chef and chocolatier in action.

The Baking Industry Trade Show is also the new home for the BAA Australia’s Best Pie and Pastie competition, which showcases the industry’s best of the best from all over Australia. Visitors flock to see how the country’s best pies and pasties are judged and who will be crowned the official winners.

For those with any questions about the services the BAA offers, such as industrial relations, insurance, energy savings and security, there will be a bakery service centre at the show where you can pop in for a chat.

On the first night of the trade show there will be an industry networking cocktail evening, which is free for all exhibitors, with drinks and canapés from 4:30pm until 7:30pm. A jazz band will keep the feet tapping and it’s a great opportunity for guests to chat with like-minded folk in the baking industry.

The trade show has been timed to coincide with the BAA’s annual conference, which will take place in the conference room know as the Meeting Place, just above where the trade show will be held.

Held over two half-day sessions from 9am to 1pm on June 20 and 21 (to allow guests to visit the show afterwards), hot topics in baking will be discussed and members will hear from expert speaks. On the list is Dr John Williams who will discuss whether gluten avoidance is a threat or opportunity; Matthew Crawshaw from the Department of Innovation and Science will explain to members the new Origin of Labelling laws; and Kevin Gilbert will discuss the current market in the baking industry from a New Zealand perspective.

Open panel discussions will be valuable and there will also be talks on the new training packages.

With a great range of topics discussed at the conference and something for everyone at the show, the Baking Industry Trade show is not one to miss for those in the baking industry.
