Burnt Honey Bakery has made the sad announcement they will be closing their Long Jetty store.
The bakery was first opened in 2022 on the NSW Central Coast.
Burnt Honey Bakery owners Hayley Thorncraft and Jo Fairall announced the impending closure on Instagram, attributing the decision to a combination of the cost of living crisis and rising labour and ingredient costs.
“It’s with a heavy heart we announce that our Long Jetty store is closing,” they wroite.
“2024 was really, really tough for small business and Burnt Honey was certainly no exception. Since we opened in 2019 we’ve weathered an awful lot, but the cost of living crisis very nearly did us in. When rising labour and ingredient costs met with a community of people who needed to tighten their belts to get by made keeping our proverbial heads above water increasingly tricky.
“Through 2024 we focused on streamlining, we ceased our wholesale operation, revised our menu and increased our opening hours. All of these changes – pus an incredible amount of support from the community in the pre-Christmas season – have helped immensely, but when the Long Jetty lease came up for renewal we decided that another three years was a risk that we just can’t afford to take in this still very tricky economy.
“And so on Sunday, February 2nd, our delightful little Long Jetty shop will close its doors for the last time… Much love to all of you, and an especially big thank you to our beautiful Long jetty community for three gorgeous years!”
The original Burnt Honey Bakery in Copacabana will remain open.
