To celebrate 15 years in the coffee business Schibello Caffé is set to launch a state-of-the-art coffee training academy (pictured) and dedicated roasting laboratory.
Located next to the company’s headquarters in Rhodes, north-west Sydney, the training academy has been created to better educate aspiring baristas in the art of making coffee, as well as to equip them with the knowledge required to become a professional barista.
The academy will teach students about the different coffee blends as part of Schibello’s range of signature, boutique and single origin roasts, as well as microlot coffee. Microlot coffee is another type of boutique single-origin coffee from a single field on a farm, a small range of altitude and a specific day of harvest.
The facility also features a roasting laboratory, complete with a boutique roaster, which allows Schibello Caffé to perform cupping sessions and experiment with small batches of new blends.
“The coffee sector is ever-changing, and very dynamic,” Schibello Caffé chief executive officer Ross Schinella said.
“Our success in the past 15 years has been due to our adaptive nature and our understanding that great coffee is about more than just the product – it’s about the experience, the social dynamic, the environment, and the sense of belonging.”
The academy’s neighbouring espresso bar, aptly named Next Door by Schibello, also offers the finished product.
“It’s the embodiment of our idea for a holistic coffee experience,” Ross said.
