The Bakers Delight Pink Bin national campaign will be taking place once again, with stores across Australian getting behind the initiative.
From May 14, 100 per cent of the sales of Bakers Delight Pink Bun sales will be going to the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
Fronting the campaign is Bec Quartermaine, who was diagnosed in July 2024, just one week before her 37th birthday. Following her diagnosis Bec underwent 20 weeks of grueling chemotherapy treatment including a double mastectomy, lymph node removal and reconstruction.
According to Cancer Australia Bec is among the rising trend of breast cancer in young women under 40 – it’s estimated 1035 women under 40 were diagnosed in 2025.
“Families need to do what is best for their own situation,” Bec said.
“I’ve met so many people who have managed their situation in different ways that felt right for them. There’s no right or wring way, but for our family we felt it was important to be as honest as possible with our girls (Lily, Annabelle and Paige) and, looking back now I’m so glad we did it this way.
“Obviously the entire situation was a lot for me to go through, but it was equally monumental for Jeremy and our girls as well. Being the eldest, we made an effort to include Lily as much as possible in an age-appropriate way, but obviously we took her feelings into account. For example, she wasn’t comfortable with me not wearing a wig when I was around her friends or out of the house, which I respected because I wanted her to feel safe. But we set boundaries that at home it was ok for me to be wig-free, as that was more comfortable for me even if it took some adjusting for her.”
Now seven, Lily is standing alongside her mum as the face of the Bakers Delight Pink Bun national campaign, which will run from May 14-27, 2026.
Throughout the Bakers Delight Pink Bun’s 26-year history more than $27 million has been raised.
