Major supermarket Woolworths announced in February it would be ending its $1 per litre milk pricing across all its Australian stores.

The announcement has been met with great acclaim by the Queensland Dairyfarmers Organisation (QDO).

“QDO is delighted Woolworths has shown such leadership. It will make a massive difference to the dairy farmers who supply milk across Australia,” QDO president Brian Tessman said.

“QDO is pleading with all other retailers to follow the leadership shown by Woolworths and apply an additional 10c to all retailer-branded milk, with all proceeds going directly back to the farmers.

“Today is a great day for all dairy farmers. Thank you to Woolworths for the understanding, empathy, social consciousness and leadership you have demonstrated.”
