Nominations are now open for the 2025 South Australian Baking Show.

Set to be held on May 24, 2025 at the Marion Hotel in Mitchell Park, the annual competition sees bakers from around the state gather to battle it out for the top gong.

In 2024 it was CJ’s Bakery that stole the show by taking home 11 trophies including Best Wholemeal Loaf Upright, Gourmet Pull Apart Bread, Decorated Sponge, and Seafood Pie.

One of the most hotly contested competitions held on the day is the Australia’s Best Sausage Roll Competition, which last year was awarded to Belair-based Banana Boogie.

The Banana Boogie team, headed by owner Jason Spencer and his wife, Kelly, beat out 250 other pastries to claim the top prize for their sausage roll in addition to the Vanilla Slice title.

The Champion Cake / Pastry of the Show – Margaret Davey Trophy was awarded to Canelle French Pastries, while Sunraysia Bread and Butter took home the Champion Loaf of the Show – Jan Huis in’t Veld Trophy.

Nomination forms and further information about the 2025 South Australian Baking Show, South Australia’s Best Kitchener Bun and Australia’s Best Sausage Roll can be found on the Baking Association of Australia website.
