On May 24, bakers from across South Australia headed to the South Australian Baking Show to not only battle it out for state honours, but also the title of Australia’s Best Sausage Roll.
The 2025 Australia’s Best Sausage Roll title went to Whittlesea Bakehouse. Champion Loaf of the Show – Jan Huis in’t Veld Trophy was awarded to Normanville Bakery (Ciabatta), while Most Successful Bread Exhibitor was won by Rebecca Wade from CJ’s Bakery. 2024 Australia’s Best Sausage Roll winner Banana Boogie took home the Most Successful Cake and Pastry Exhibitor title. The bakery won both the Gourmet Pie and Seafood Pie titles as well as the Gourmet Decorated Doughnut categories. Emma from The Lost Loaf was awarded the Champion Cake / Pastry of the Show for her croissant. Crafers Bakehouse took home the Best Kitchener Bun title.
The Village Baker claimed the Vanilla Slice title, with Normanville Bakery placing second and Banana Boogie coming in third.
The SA Baking Show also signaled the start of the Baking Association of Australia’s Triple Crown competition, which challenges bakeries to compete for all three titles for Best Sausage Roll, Best Pie and Best Pastie.
