Melbourne’s Madeleine de Proust has partnered with Belgian chocolatier Godiva to offer a limited-edition collection of handcrafted madeleines for Mother’s Day.
The collaboration features three distinct madeleine varieties, each crafted to celebrate the occasion:
- My Moon & Stars: A citrus-infused madeleine filled with passionfruit ganache and hazelnut praline, rolled in coconut flakes, and topped with a handcrafted white chocolate moon and star.
- Caramelised Chocolate & Earl Grey Bear: A bear-shaped madeleine infused with the floral notes of Earl Grey tea and enveloped in caramelised white chocolate.
- Love, Godiva: A ruby chocolate-coated madeleine containing a strawberry confit and cream ganache centre, adorned with delicate heart motifs.
The collaboration came to fruition when Godiva approached Madeleine de Proust towards the end of 2024. While initially considering a Valentine’s Day offering, the team decided to focus their efforts on creating something special for Mother’s Day.
“We were planning to do something like Valentine’s, but we didn’t have enough time to prepare. So, we came to an agreement that we could create something for Mother’s Day,” Chef-partner of Madeleine de Proust Rong Yao Soh said.
The response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive.
Rong noted, “The response has been really good. The kitchen is a little hectic right now because everything is handmade. We temper by hand, there’s no machine, and so our kitchen is relatively small production-wise. Right now, we have around 2000 orders to take care of.”
Looking ahead, Madeleine de Proust has plans for future collaborations taking place this year.
“Throughout the year, we have some pretty exciting collaborations coming up. Our next collaboration will be with another major chocolate icon that we will be announcing soon,” Rong said.
“We’re going to have a pop-up in Sydney with them next month for two days. We’ll bring some of our popular items but we’re still finalising the flavours.”
