On March 12, the baking industry’s best will head to the TAFE Hamilton Campus in Newcastle to battle it out in the Newcastle Baking Show.
The competition is always hotly contested, with the 2024 competition seeing 61 bakeries from across the state compete.
It was Brown Sugar Bakery from Forresters Beach on the NSW Central Coast who took home the prize for Champion Loaf of the Show for their wattle, fig, macadamia and honey loaf. The bakery also claimed the the award for the Most Successful Cake/Pastry exhibitor.
The Sugar Mill was awarded the Champion Cake/Pastry of the Show – Bob Connell Trophy, and Bakers Delight Lake Macquarie won the Most Successful Bread Exhibitor category.
Nominations are now open for the competition. Entry forms and further information about the event can be found on the Baking Association of Australia website.
