Newcastle Baking Show was the place to be this week, when 61 bakeries from right across New South Wales converged on the Baking Association of Australia baking show.
The show was held at the Hamilton TAFE campus on March 6.

Brown Sugar Bakery, from Forresters Beach on the Central Coast,  took home the top prize of the day, the Champion Loaf of the Show, for their wattle, fig, macadamia and honey loaf as well as the award for Most Successful Cake/Pastry exhibitor. It wasn’t the first time the bakery has cleaned up at the baking. Back in 2022 Brown Sugar Bakery team took home eight ribbons including first and second place in the Flavoured Sourdough class and first place for their Grain 5 Strand Plait.

The Newcastle Baking Show’s big winners were:

• Champion Loaf of the Show: Brown sugar Bakery
• Champion Cake/Pastry of the Show: The Sugar Mill
• Most Successful Bread Exhibitor: Bakers Delight, Lake Macquarie
• Most successful Cake/Pastry Exhibitor: Brown Sugar Bakery
• Bill Lewis Perpetual Trophy: Jamie Steen – Woolworths Bulli

Next up is the Baking Industry Trade Show, which will be held on June 18-20, 2024, at Moonee Valley Racecourse in Melbourne.
