May 1, 2025, marked a milestone for Australia’s oldest family-owned chocolate maker, Haigh’s Chocolates, which turned 110.
Originating in Adelaide, Haigh’s Chocolates was born when Alfred Haigh first opened the doors of the Beehive Corner building retail store in 1915. Since then, Haigh’s Chocolates has grown to produce more than 300 chocolate varieties and employ more than 900 people across its 21 stores located in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
Chief Executive Officer Alister Haigh reflected on the company’s rich history, which has spanned five generations of family.
“I am proud to be a part of the Haigh’s story. Alongside my brother Simon, we remain committed to continuing our family’s legacy as one of the largest bean-to-bar chocolate manufacturing-retailers in Australia,” Alister said.
“We are excited to be celebrating this 110-year milestone with our customers, many of whom have fond memories of visiting our stores and experiencing the true delight of Haigh’s quality chocolate.”
This year also marks the planned opening of Haigh’s $120 million new manufacturing and warehouse facility later in the year, representing the single largest infrastructure investment by the family-owned business as it prepares for future expansion and growth.
To mark the milestone, Haigh’s is releasing a curated limited edition 1.2kg Anniversary Edition Chocolate Box containing 72 individually hand-crafted premium chocolates. This includes an exclusive selection of 10 signature flavours comprised of past favourites and new chocolate varieties, housed in a handmade bespoke box with motifs inspired by the architecture of the Haigh’s Beehive Corner building. Haigh’s is also releasing a special Anniversary Edition Premium 50g Milk Chocolate Bar to mark the occasion.
