Sydney’s first Nutella-themed dessert bar has opened in inner-west Sydney.
Aki Daikos and Simon Kappatos are the guys who sent the internet into a tailspin with their Tella Ball Shake – a Nutella-filled doughnut served on top of a milkshake. That took place at Foodcraft Espresso – the Erskineville café the pair sold to focus on giving Sydneysiders an over-the-top dessert business.
Tella Balls Dessert Bar is a one-stop-shop for sweets, with the menu incorporating crepes and waffles, and Nutella ‘lasagne’ (layered mousse cake and fresh cream on a biscuit base), along with Nutella-laden brownies, banana bread, cheesecakes, éclaires, panna cotta and ganache.
The Tella Ball shake (pictured above left) is on the menu, alongside the newest craze, the ‘gelat-dough’, where a scrumptious doughnut-shaped gelato treat is placed in a stick and covered with icing (pictured above right).
“We’ll be using a lot of other fun ingredients in our desserts other than just Nutella,” Simon told Good Food.
“Things like Kit Kats, Maltesers, Oreos and Mars Bars – things we grew up eating. It brings us back to our childhood, and that’s the best place you can be.”
The dessert bar has released a host of new doughnut flavours, including Belgian chocolate, peanut butter, lemon butter, cookies and cream, and cheesecake.
