Bakery brand Mlinar, which has more than 190 bakeries in Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Germany, will open a franchise store in Sydney at the beginning of May. The bakery will be laid exactly the same as the flagship store in Croatia but will be run by Sydney-based franchise partners.
Products will include burek, a family of filled pastries made of thin, flaky dough (similar to baklava), and savoury filo parcels. Kalnik bread, buckwheat-mixed bread, focaccia, corn crescent rolls and strudels will also be sold.
The ambitious brand, which has been around since 1903, is also expected to expand into Germany and Saudi Arabia this year.
