Jimmy is known by parents and children as Jimmy Giggle from ABC Kids’ Giggle and Hoot program, but better known since the start of COVID as “The guy who decides” and “Jason”, and also for his funny “Meanwhile in Australia” videos, where he pokes fun at the various states’ handling of the pandemic.
The viral videos all feature Jimmy playing a range of characters, spliced together to make a conversation. Initially, it was his videos about the guy who decides packaging which took off, pointing out the ridiculous ways many everyday items in supermarkets are packaged with hilarious accuracy, and he moved on to the squabbling between state leaders.
With close to 400k followers on TikTok, 200k on Instagram and nearly 600k on Facebook, it’s little wonder companies—including Mrs Macs and Every Plate—are approaching Jimmy Rees for sponsored content.
Rees hosted Giggle and Hoot from its first broadcast in 2009 and announced his decision to part ways with the program in 2019.
