Over three days, seasoned pie experts put their taste buds to the test as they undertook the serious business of judging the record number of entries in the 2021 Australia’s Best Pie & Pastie Competition, with smashing results.
The 2031 entries came from 346 bakeries all over Australia and covered 16 categories, each vying for the coveted titles which were announced on Thursday, May 27, on the final day of the Baking Industry Trade Show at Wentworth Park, Sydney.
In the end, the judges awarded the Australia’s Best Pie title to Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes in Ocean Grove, Victoria, for their Class 5 Surf and Turf.
While they weren’t there to accept the award in person, Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes told their Facebook followers their minds were blown over the win.
