National Pies serves up community grants

It’s a pie-fect partnership!
Tasmanian Bakeries is celebrating 80-plus years of baking pies by giving back to the community with a series of grants up for grabs.

The National Pies for Local Heroes grant program launched on January 23, with Australian football legend Jack Riewoldt kicking off the campaign as its ambassador.

Each month during 2024, a local community organisation will be awarded $1000 from National Pies. There will also be the opportunity for one organisation to win a single larger grant of $10,000.

Tasmanian Bakeries chief executive officer Geraldine Tebbutt said the National Pies for Local Heroes campaign is a special way to show the company’s appreciation to community groups.

“Because Australia has supported us for eight decades, we couldn’t think of a better way to say thanks than by offering a helping hand to the people who make a difference, whether that’s through a kids’ sporting program or by running a community art organisation,” Geraldine said.

“We encourage organisations anywhere in Australia to submit their grant proposals through our website.

“We’re also thrilled to be working with Jack as the program’s ambassador. The Tasmanian community loves him, both from his days playing footy here and as one of Richmond’s greats. Now that Jack is a culture and leadership consultant for the new Tasmanian Football Club, he’s the perfect representative.”

Jack said he’s honoured to take part in this initiative, which takes him back to pie nights at Clarence Football Club.

“Working with Tasmanian Bakeries to give back to the community is a recipe for excitement with great purpose,” Jack said.

“Supporting the community is not just a duty, it’s an investment in a brighter, stronger future for all. A truly rewarding aspect of my career is giving back to communities making a difference.”

Submissions for the grants program can be made at the Tasmanian Bakeries website. All entrants must be based in Australia.
