Richmond golden boy and three-time premiership player Jack Riewoldt has made his love for the Apple Isleβs favourite pastry official, as the new national ambassador for National Pies.
The Hobart-born star will represent the brand across several initiatives in the coming months, including developing a brand-new pie flavour that will launch exclusively at Bunnings cafΓ©s over the coming months.
Jack has been a long-time consumer of the brand and said the decision to work with the iconic business was an easy one.
βLike every other Tassie resident, I grew up eating National Piesβwhether it be from the school tuckshop, or straight from the oven at home,β Jack said.
βThursdays at Clarence Football Club were pie and coke night, which were a highlight after a gruelling training session.
βTo be able to be involved in such a cool way and create my own pie flavour is fantastic. And it tastes delicious.β
According to Jack, Aussies can expect the footy legend to approach the partnership with his signature humour and flair.
βLetβs just say that Iβll be fully immersing myself into this experience. Iβve put up my hand to be Head Taste-Tester of the new flavour and canβt wait for other pie lovers to give it a try,β Jack said.
βIβm also stoked to bring more awareness to these iconic products. Iβve got so many great memories from my childhood that involve National Pies, and I hope to share these memories with the rest of Australia during my ambassadorship.β
Jack will continue to forge the path on the βmainlandβ for the Tassie brand, with his pie available in Bunnings cafes nationally (excluding SA) from March.
National Pies CEO Geraldine Tebbutt was delighted to welcome the Coleman Medallist to the National Pies team.
βFood and pies are synonymous with the Australian sporting experience, so it was only natural to approach Jack as our first national ambassador and to get him to help us create a new pie,β Geraldine said.
βJackβs emphasis on community and family aligns perfectly with National Pies, and these are values we have held dear since the brand was established in 1942.
βItβs wonderful that Jack continues to play a major part in the National Piesβ brand story, and we canβt wait to see Australianβs enjoy his new creation.β
National Pies expanded outside of its home state after growing demand in the 2000s. The business has continued to partner with several foodservice and retail providers to make sure that Aussieβs all around the country can enjoy the only pies delivered fresh from Tassie by butchers, bakers and pastry makers.
National Pies can be found in Woolworths stores across Victoria and Queensland, and nationally at Costco and Bunnings CafΓ© (with the exception of SA).
