How’s this for a winning team? A former automobile company CEO has partnered with his pastry chef daughter to start up an innovative business model selling baked goods across the US via mail order.
Tom and Christine LaSorda are selling cookies on-the-go, with a view to soon move onto pies, tarts, cakes and other bakery items.
Tom, who knows a few things about mass production from his manufacturing days at both Chrysler and General Motors, said mail-order is a cost-effective way to extend the reach of his daughter’s bakery because it doesn’t involve the capital costs of equipment or rent for multiple retail outlets.
