Kenilworth Bakery opens doors to Bribie Island store

Cult Queensland bakehouse brand, Kenilworth Bakery, will officially open the doors to their third store on December 15, 2023.

Located beachfront on Bribie Island, brother  and sister duo Jenna and Nathan Sanders will throw open the doors at 8am, with free donuts being given away as part of the celebration.

All the favourite items will be available to but on the day, although Jenna and Nathan warned the doors will close once the display cases are empty.

Jenna said Bribie Island, just north of Brisbane, was an obvious choice for the next location, following on from the original Kenilworth store and the second site at The Wharf in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast.

“Our bakeries aren’t just a place to grab a pie or sausage roll, they’re a destination in their own right – a place people actually have on their South East Queensland bucket list to visit,” she said.

“It’s a place where kids spend forever debating which flavour (or two) of donut they want, where adults savour that first bite into a crispy, chunky meat pie and where caffeine lovers sip from our unique coffee donuts.

“With this in mind, it made perfect sense to look to Bribie for our latest store, given its popular appeal as a holiday and daytrip location.

“It’s also moving that little bit closer to Brisbane, where we have a dedicated fan base.”

The bakery, with a heritage stretching back almost 100 years, has carved out a cult following with goodies that capture attention in the most modern of ways, such as the 8.2 million-plus views its spectacular coffee donuts have racked up on Instagram alone.

But the contemporary appeal is enhanced by a classic focus on good old-fashioned quality and taste.

All of Kenilworth’s products are made fresh each day, using recipes that have been developed and honed by the Sanders family across three generations of bakers. These are enhanced by the ever-evolving nature of their creations, including incredible sourdough donuts which are made from the bakery’s own starter.

An inhouse butcher also oversees the quality of ingredients used in products such as pies.

All the famous Kenilworth eating challenges – from the 1kg donuts to the 1kg sausage rolls – will also be available at the Bribie Island store.

The bakery will be overseen by regional manager Terri-Ann Nielsen and will initially open Wednesday to Sunday from 8am-3pm.
