Starfish Bakery, a beloved family-owned business in Barwon Heads, Victoria, will be closing its doors after 25 years of service.
Owners Paul and Dinah Fox shared the news on social media this week, announcing their decision to retire after decades of serving the local community.
“We’ve been part of this community for over 25 years, but it’s now time,” the bakery posted.
Despite the closure, the Foxes reassured customers that the business would continue to operate as usual for at least the next six weeks, and possibly longer. In their heartfelt message, the couple reflected on their journey and the relationships built with the community over the years.
“We wanted the chance to share the news with you all and say a very heartfelt thank you, some of you have been round long enough to watch the Fox girls grow up, and we’ve watched your families grow too, others have come to us in the last few years, or just made the trip down from Melbourne for your favourite squishy—but all have been welcome here!”
The post also expressed deep gratitude for the community’s support, which has been integral to the bakery’s success.
“Thank you for all your kindness, love and support over the years, we really wouldn’t be here without you,” they stated.
Starfish Bakery has long been known for its commitment to locally sourced produce, including items like bacon and ham, goats cheese, free-range eggs, and fresh vegetables. The Foxes encouraged customers to share the news, suggesting that someone may want to carry on the Starfish tradition in the future.
