Black Star Pastry has teamed up with QT Hotels & Resorts for a month-long Valentine's Day celebration

Black Star Pastry is turning Valentine’s Day into a month-long celebration after teaming up with QT Hotels & Resorts to offer an exclusive menu.

Kicking off on February 14, the new menu will be available in QT Hotels & Resorts in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Newcastle, Canberra, the Gold Coast – and even internationally in New Zealand and Singapore.

Black Star Pastry, which became insta-famous thanks to its strawberry and watermelon cake, will be offering up two cake creations: The Love Bomb and The Ghost.

Like their names suggest the cakes take their inspiration from the modern dating scene. The Love Bomb is a decadent celebration of rich chocolate, designed for those who adore deep, intense flavours. With layers of chocolate financier, mousse ganache, and crèmeux, it’s topped off with a striking raspberry chocolate shard that makes each bite a luxurious experience.

In contrast, The Ghost takes a lighter, more playful approach, capturing the essence of passing romance. A soft sponge base and vanilla mousse are complemented by a vibrant strawberry and raspberry compote, with a crunchy surprise layer for added texture. Topped with a coconut-coated chocolate truffle, it offers a refreshing burst of sweetness and tartness in every bite.

Both cakes come with a love letter, adding a personal touch to this Valentine’s celebration.

The collaboration saw QT Gold Coast Head Pastry Chef Daniel King join with Black Star’s Group Head Pastry Chef Arnaud Vodounou to craft the two cakes.

Daniel said the key for the duo when creating the cakes was for it to feel like a true collaboration of brands and flavour.

“The V-Day cakes play on the subtle nods of flair that we are known for at QT along with our use of premium ingredients, whilst creatively spinning a signature Black Star Pastry masterpiece to do things a little bit differently,” he said.

Arnaud said the partnership was enormous and an exciting chapter for Black Star Pastry.

“We can’t wait for Australians across the country and our international friends in New Zealand and Singapore to experience our indulgent and delicious creations, many for the first time,” he said.
