Aldo’s Patisserie raising vital funds for pancreatic cancer foundation

Brisbane-based Aldo’s Patisserie is aiming to make a change through charity, by raising vital funds for pancreatic cancer research throughout August.

Aldo’s Patisserie owner Georgia Agosta said she began the fundraiser in 2022 in honour of her late father, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2016.

For the entire month, 100 per cent of the sales of custard tarts sold at Aldo’s Patisserie will be donated the Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation, PanKind.

“I’ve chosen to hold a fundraiser for PanKind in the month of August each year for my dad,” Georgia said.

“The custard tart was his all-time favourite sweet, and this is why I have decided to donate 100 per cent of the sales from our custard tarts for the entire month.”

Georgia said last year they raised just under $850 from selling 172 custard tarts, and they were aiming higher again in 2024.

“I would love to reach $1000 this year,” she said.

“We have such a supportive local community who are interested in the cause and many [people were] specifically purchasing the custard tart to help.”

The Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation [PanKind] has a patient-centred approach. Their mission is to triple the pancreatic cancer survival rate by 2030 and dramatically improve the quality of life for those impacted by the disease.

Defined as a “less common cancer”, it was estimated in 2023 alone 4506 people would be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
