A very American flavour combo from a New Zealand chocolate company has caused a flurry of excitement for Australian shoppers. Whittaker’s new limited-edition flavour drop is a topsy turvy Peanut Butter and Jelly, and chocaholics are raving.
Five rows of Pic’s Smooth Peanut Butter filling and five rows of Boysenberry Jelly filling, encased in 33 per cent Cocoa Milk Chocolate make up the treat, with the company calling it “a sandwich made in heaven”.
Customers on Whittaker’s Facebook page complained of the block disappearing too quickly, with the only way to get the combination of peanut butter and jelly flavour in one bite being to eat two squares at once.
“It took me way too long to realise that the two flavours weren’t in one piece,” wrote one confused shopper.
“I would loooove a block of the jelly all by itself though, please!”
Other customers begged Whittaker’s to make the combo a permanent edition to its range: “Itβs so… yummy, please not let it be limited edition!! Stay on the shelves,” they wrote.
The brand’s co-chief operating officer Holly Whittaker told news.com.au the block was a first for the company.
βOur unique new block format for Whittakerβs Peanut Butter & Jelly reflects Whittakerβs ongoing commitment to innovation because we truly believe βbest is always betterβ and we hope our Whittakerβs Chocolate Lovers enjoy this fun new flavour as much as we do,β she said.
βAs a New Zealand chocolate maker, weβre thrilled to support local by using delicious peanut butter made by our friends at Picβs in Nelson.”
