Tokyo Lamington has unboxed a surprise take over event, teaming up with Mitch Westwood and Ashley Smith for a pizza and dessert party.
On June 9 and 10 (Wednesday and Thursday) Mitch from Newtown’s latest pizza institution, Westwood, will be serving up a one-time special pizza to start the evening, followed by two out-of-the-box lamington-inspired desserts by Tokyo Lamington‘s Eddie Stewart and Stokehouse Melbourne’s Ashley Smith.
Currently visiting in Sydney, chef Ashley couldn’t resist adding a little pastry pop up event to his itinerary.
This collaboration marks the first Tokyo Lamington Unboxed event, with the dessert store intending to make it an ongoing thing, where they will host hospitality industry players to serve up three dishes and good times.
Bookings are essential, and tickets are $80 per person.
Born in 2019, Tokyo Lamington takes the humble Australian icon and turns it on its head; marrying the well-loved dessert with modern Japanese colour and spirit.
Founded by Min Chai (Founder of N2 Gelato) and Eddie Stewart (Previously Black Star Pastry Alumni and founder of N2 Brunch Club), these untraditional Lamingtons were originally only found in Singapore and Tokyo, but following a successful collaboration with KokoBlack, Tokyo Lamington launched its flagship Australian store in September 2020, and opened its Newtown store this year.
