The Cake Bar – interactive cake bar described as the first of its kind in Australia – is about to hit Brisbane.
Set to open its doors at Mt Gravatt Westfield on Brisbane’s south-side in late March The Cake Bar will have a full range of cake base flavours, frosting, and toppings available to choose from. Think nostalgic childhood favourites like sherbet, sour straps and raspberry jellies that sit alongside marshmallows and M&Ms.
According to 7news.com.au, The Cake Bar drew inspiration for the concept from frozen yoghurt chain Yo-Chi.
“I ordered a red velvet cake with vanilla ciing, caramel sauce and Oreo crumbs on top,” Owen Atkinson told 7news after trying the experience.
“I just about melted when I tasted it, and finished the whole thing right there.”
The Cake Bar has been spearheaded by Brisbane-based entrepreneur Raman Singh, who also launched bakery vending machine The Bake Drop last year, in addition to her home-based business La Fleur Macaron.
Speaking with Baking Business magazine at the time, the former pharmacist said leaving behind her stable career to follow her obsession with baking had been both challenging and empowering.
“With The Bake Drop, I’ve combined my love for inclusive, handcrafted treats— including gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free options—with smart technology to create a fresh and accessible experience,” she said.
