Last month, the news hit hard: Elizabeth CafΓ© de Vili’s suddenly closed its doors. But here’s the silver liningβ€”St Peters Bakehouse & Coffee Shop is stepping in to take over the location.

With three bustling locations already across Adelaide – in St Peters, Thebarton, and Ridgehaven (the latest one opened in 2016) – this bakery is no stranger to whipping up delicious treats.

Former footballer Damian Obst and his partner, Kate, are the dynamic duo behind this popular bakery, which has been delighting taste buds for about 25 years. They even previously expanded to Noosa, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, with The Bakers Pantry.

St Peters Bakehouse is known for its eye-catching chalkboard signs and delightful brown paper bags filled with an array of pastries, pies, and desserts. From savoury meat pies to sweet vanilla slices and lemon tarts, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

The sudden closure of CafΓ© de Vili’s was announced via a sign in the window, stating that the company was in liquidation. The franchise clarified on Facebook that the closure was due to issues with the local franchisee, not the Vili’s Family Bakery itself, which continues to operate at other locations.

While Vili’s was a local favourite, it seems St Peters Bakehouse is ready to step up and fill the pastry void.

The opening date is yet to be announced.
